As the new year 2026 begins, Belgium Biathlon can look back on 2025 as a year of remarkable activity and development, marked by successful competitions, strong public engagement and impressive participation figures across the country.

The Cross Biathlon season came to an exciting conclusion on 16 November with the Belgian Championships, which proved to be a resounding success. The event featured five Mass Start races spread across the day, attracting a lively crowd and delivering plenty of sporting suspense. The championships provided a fitting finale to the cross season, underlining the growing popularity of the discipline in Belgium.

Attention has now turned to the winter programme, with the first round of the Winter Cup already completed. Athletes competed in roller skiing or cross-country skiing, depending on conditions. The next Winter Cup race is scheduled for 17 January 2026.

Meanwhile, the Biathlon 4 All project is reaching the end of its current chapter in the Namur region, where it has been running throughout the year. The initiative has been a major success, introducing around 1,000 participants to biathlon for the very first time. As the project evolves, the 10 rifles used for Biathlon 4 All activities will be transferred to a new region at the end of January, ensuring the programme continues to reach fresh audiences. In addition, Belgium Biathlon will be present at the Olympic Village in Middelkerke, offering the general public another opportunity to discover the sport.

Taking into account races, training sessions, initiation events and Biathlon 4 All activities, around 10,000 people were involved in biathlon over the course of the year. Together, these achievements provide a strong foundation for 2026, as Belgium Biathlon builds on the successes of 2025 and continues to expand the sport nationwide.
