Biathlon 4 All presented at ISF Academy Webinar
The International Biathlon Union (IBU) presented its Biathlon 4 All (B4A) development project at an International School Sport Federation (ISF) Academy webinar, engaging coaches and Heads of Delegation participating in the School Handball Championships.
Delivered by IBU Development Project Coordinator Maxim Berdnikov, the session introduced how biathlon is being successfully implemented at school level as a safe, accessible and year-round activity. Using laser shooting, biathlon can be easily integrated into physical education and combined with a variety of activities such as running, cycling or other movement-based exercises.
Participants were presented with practical implementation models, showing that schools can start with minimal equipment, while benefiting from ready-to-use materials available through the B4A platform. The IBU also highlighted its ongoing development of educational tools, including a Kids’ Coach Course on the IBU Academy and further initiatives under Erasmus+.
The webinar underlined the importance of the IBU-ISF Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to promote biathlon in schools worldwide and strengthen cooperation between school sport and National Federations.
Examples from Norway, Denmark and Ukraine demonstrated different approaches to school-based development, from school visits and teacher-led delivery to competition formats.
The session concluded with an invitation for ISF member federations to engage with the Biathlon 4 All project and support the introduction of biathlon activities in schools.
