Biathlon comes to Covilhã for International Biathlon Day in Portugal
On 31 May, the Covilhã Sports Complex became the centre of excitement and discovery as Portugal celebrated International Biathlon Day 2026, giving participants the opportunity to experience biathlon first-hand.
Throughout the day, visitors took part in a wide range of activities, including running, walking, inline skating, and introductory roller-ski sessions, with many participants trying roller skis for the very first time. They also had the chance to test their shooting skills using both traditional air rifles and modern laser technology provided by EcoAims.
Participants benefited from the guidance of an outstanding team of experts, including coach Alexandre Nappa and Olympian Victoria Padial, who shared their international experience and passion for the sport. The event was further supported by Ricardo Arrifano (EcoAims Portugal), whose expertise helped deliver a high-quality laser shooting experience.
The day was a celebration of participation, learning, and community spirit, demonstrating that biathlon is a sport open to everyone, regardless of age or experience.
A big thank you to everyone who joined the celebrations in Covilhã and helped make the event such a success. The future of biathlon in Portugal looks brighter than ever.
