Biathlon meets the Giro d’Italia: a day of sport, fun and passion comes to Aviano

Biathlon and cycling will come together for a special celebration of sport, movement and community spirit when Aviano hosts the event “Biathlon meets Giro d’Italia” on Friday, 29 May 2026.
Held at the “Oriana Fallaci” Park, the initiative forms part of the IBU promotional project Biathlon 4 All, organised to celebrate International Biathlon Day through a series of events aimed at introducing more people to the sport.
From 9.30am to 5.30pm, children, teenagers, families and sports enthusiasts will have the chance to discover biathlon through a range of interactive activities designed for all ages. Using laser rifles alongside agility and coordination challenges, participants will be able to experience the excitement of the Olympic discipline in a safe, accessible and entertaining environment.
The event gains even greater significance thanks to the arrival of the penultimate stage of the Giro d’Italia in nearby Piancavallo, creating a unique link between two major sporting worlds and promising a day full of energy and participation. Looking back at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, former biathlete Dominik Windisch and Nicola Romanin will also be in attendance.
Activities will take place at the “Oriana Fallaci” Park, close to the Aviano Civic Library. In the event of poor weather, the programme will move to the “Visinai” Sports Centre.
The Biathlon 4 All initiative represents an important opportunity to promote biathlon locally and inspire new participants to try a sport that combines technical skill, concentration and physical endurance. At the same time, the event aims to celebrate inclusion and participation, offering everyone the chance to get involved in a welcoming and festive atmosphere.
Organised under the patronage of the Municipality of Aviano, the event also forms part of the wider Piancavallo 2026 project, which looks ahead with enthusiasm to the future of winter sport and the continued growth of the biathlon movement.
For one day, biathlon will step away from the snowy tracks and into the heart of the town, transforming Aviano into a hub of sport, community and enjoyment.
