Bulgaria introduces young people to biathlon on International Biathlon Day

Bulgaria celebrated International Biathlon Day 2026 with a public event in South Park, Sofia, aimed at promoting biathlon among children, families, and the wider community.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to discover the sport through interactive activities, including laser rifle shooting, which attracted considerable interest from both children and parents. Visitors were able to test their accuracy in a safe and accessible environment while learning more about the fundamentals of biathlon.

The programme also featured relay races, allowing participants to experience the competitive side of biathlon through a combination of physical activity, teamwork, and fun. These activities provided an engaging introduction to the sport and encouraged active participation among young people.

Alexandrina Georgieva, Office Assistant, highlighted the positive response to the event:

By bringing biathlon into one of Sofia's most popular public spaces, the event successfully introduced the sport to new audiences and demonstrated how biathlon can be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds.
