A youth biathlon-style championship was held outdoors on 25 March at the stadium of Volodymyr Lyceum, offering local children their first experience of the sport in a competitive setting.

The event was organised with the active involvement of the lyceum’s Director, Nataliia Khomiuk, who continues to strongly support the project.

“Thanks to its cooperation we are able to use this lyceum as a venue for such events to attract more kids across the region,” said Lily Budzulyak, B4A Project Coordinator in Ukraine.

In total, 20 participants took part in the championships, divided into the following age categories: 2012 and older, 2013, 2014, and 2015 and younger. All of the children were new to biathlon and had no prior experience. Thanks to the efforts of regional coach Serhii Seniuk, they were able to develop basic skills and take part in the competition, which proved to be an exciting experience for all involved.

The event was supported by local referee Iryna Rybalko, who assisted in ensuring the smooth running of the competition. Serhii Seniuk continues to serve as the responsible coach in the region, working closely with participants.

The initiative continues to grow, introducing more children to sport and encouraging active participation across the region.
