This Saturday, 30 May, marks the IBU’s International Biathlon Day, with the biathlon community across Australia coming together to celebrate the sport through a weekend of activities, participation, and fun.

Organised by Biathlon Australia, the celebrations will feature a range of laser biathlon and roller ski sessions designed to introduce new participants to the sport while bringing together existing athletes, families, and supporters.

In Canberra, Biathlon Australia will host an International Biathlon Day session at Stromlo Forest Park. The session will provide participants with the opportunity to experience laser shooting and roller skiing in one of Australia’s premier outdoor sporting venues.

Sydney will also host multiple International Biathlon Day activities across the weekend. A family-friendly laser biathlon session will take place at St Leonards Park on the Lower North Shore, with activities tailored for children and newcomers to the sport. Participants will enjoy games, introductory activities, and International Biathlon Day goodie bags.

Additional roller ski and laser biathlon sessions will be held at The King's School. These sessions are open to the public and offer an opportunity for participants of all ages and abilities to try biathlon in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Goodie bags will also be available for attendees.

International Biathlon Day is celebrated globally each year to promote biathlon participation and introduce more people to the sport through accessible and community-focused activities. Across Australia, the weekend will showcase the growing enthusiasm for biathlon and the continued development of opportunities for people to get involved.
