Denmark will celebrate International Biathlon Day 2026 on 27 May at Herlev Athletics Stadium in Copenhagen with a day of competition and public participation activities focused on introducing biathlon in an accessible and exciting format.
The main event will feature a “Track and Shoot” 4 × 400 metre relay competition, where teams of four runners from different age categories — ranging from youth participants aged 10 and above to masters athletes — will compete in heats throughout the day.
The race format will combine speed, precision, and endurance, with participants completing approximately 300 metres of sprinting before stopping for five prone shooting attempts. Missed targets will result in a penalty loop before competitors complete the final sprint section of the course.
Alongside the relay competitions, open “zeroing” and shooting practice sessions will be available throughout the day, allowing visitors and newcomers to try laser shooting and experience the fundamentals of biathlon in a safe and welcoming environment.
Through this celebration, Denmark aims to promote participation in biathlon, encourage active lifestyles, and bring together athletes, families, and local communities as part of the global International Biathlon Day initiative.
