For the first time, an International Biathlon Day event will take place at the DSV Nordic aktiv Training Centre of Skiverband Rheinland e.V. in Neuwied, northern Rhineland-Palatinate, on 30 May 2026.

The event will be organised by the DSV Nordic aktiv AZ Skiverband Rheinland e.V. together with the biathlon section of SRC Heimbach-Weis 2000 e.V. as part of the DSV athletics testing programme for biathletes from the Skiverband Rheinland e.V. The event will also serve as a “Biathlon Talentiade”, introducing new participants and young talents to the sport.

In addition to club athletes, school children and new participants will have the opportunity to discover biathlon through laser shooting combined with cross-country skiing activities on the textile “Mr. Snow” ski track and cross-running exercises.

Athletes, para-athletes, children, parents, coaches, and volunteers are all welcome to take part. The programme will include opportunities to try biathlon, youth races, family relays, and activities focused on youth development and participation.

All participants will receive introductory instruction in laser shooting and cross-country skiing techniques from DSV instructors and coaches from the DSV Nordic aktiv AZ Skiverband Rheinland e.V.

Through this initiative, Germany aims to promote youth participation, inclusion, and grassroots development in biathlon while encouraging active lifestyles and community engagement through sport.
