Slovenia will celebrate International Biathlon Day 2026 with a week-long nationwide activation programme culminating in a central public event in Ljubljana on 30 May 2026.

From 25 to 29 May, Slovenian biathlon clubs will organise promotional activities in primary schools across regions where biathlon clubs are active, introducing children in Under 12 and Under 15 age groups to biathlon through fun, age-appropriate activities. Each participating child will receive a special invitation to attend the main public event in Ljubljana.

The main event, planned for a central public venue in Ljubljana, will focus on promoting biathlon among youth and families through interactive and accessible laser biathlon activities. A full Biathlon Loop will allow participants to experience a complete biathlon circuit featuring a start zone, running course, laser shooting range, penalty loop, and finish line.

Additional activities will include a timed biathlon challenge, children’s activity zones with additional sports elements, social media activations, and opportunities to meet Slovenian national team athletes.

The event will also feature photo opportunities, community engagement activities, and introductory sessions designed to encourage children, families, and new audiences to discover biathlon in a fun and welcoming environment.

Through this nationwide initiative, Slovenia aims to strengthen grassroots participation in biathlon, inspire future athletes, and promote healthy lifestyles and community involvement through sport.
