Sweden will launch its International Biathlon Day 2026 celebrations on 23 May with a public biathlon activation during the Göteborgsvarvet event in Gothenburg, organised together with the Swedish biathlon community and clubs across the country.

From approximately 11:00 to 16:00, visitors will have the opportunity to meet representatives from Swedish biathlon clubs, discover the sport through interactive activities, and take part in fun biathlon-inspired challenges suitable for all ages.

The programme will feature the “Träff eller Bom” (“Hit or Miss”) concept, including a fast-paced five-event team challenge inspired by biathlon. Teams of four participants will complete a series of physical and coordination-based tasks combined with shooting activities where every missed shot results in additional team exercises such as burpees. The activities are designed to create movement, teamwork, laughter, and a welcoming atmosphere for participants of all experience levels.

Additional activities will include a biathlon-themed quiz walk, social media quiz activations on Instagram, and introductory laser shooting experiences adapted for children, families, and newcomers to the sport.

Local clubs will also receive activity materials to organise their own “Hit or Miss” events and community celebrations around the country in connection with International Biathlon Day.

Through these activities, Sweden aims to promote healthy lifestyles, movement, and grassroots participation in biathlon while creating enjoyable and inclusive experiences for children, youth, families, and local communities.
