The Hungarian Ski Federation successfully hosted the Hungarian Biathlon National Championships on 4–5 October, marking another milestone for the sport’s growth in the country.
This year was the second time that children’s categories officially competed using laser rifles, an initiative that has proven highly successful. The technology continues to make the sport more accessible and safe for young athletes, while also promoting wider participation in biathlon across Hungary.
Although participation was open exclusively to athletes officially registered with member clubs, the organisers also ran an amateur race alongside the championships, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere. In total, more than 145 participants took part across the two days - a remarkable figure for a biathlon competition in Hungary.
Looking ahead, the Federation will continue its school outreach programme, visiting institutions across various regions to introduce biathlon to young people. With the colder months approaching, the community eagerly awaits the arrival of snow and winter conditions to bring the sport to life on real snow once again.
