On 30 May, Oroslavje marked International Biathlon Day 2026 with a vibrant programme of sporting, environmental, and community activities held across Park Vraniczany, the town centre, and local sports facilities.

The day began with participant registration and the “Save Our Winters” initiative, bringing together athletes, volunteers, and local residents for a community clean-up, environmental awareness presentations, music, and activities promoting sustainability and the importance of protecting winter sports environments.

From late morning onwards, children and visitors had the opportunity to discover biathlon through a Laser Rifle Shooting School, where coaches and members of the Croatian national team introduced participants to the fundamentals of biathlon shooting through demonstrations and supervised practice sessions.

The sporting programme featured the Open Croatian Championship in Youth Cross Biathlon, combining running and laser shooting for young athletes, followed by a recreational biathlon event open to children, parents, and participants of all ages. The afternoon focused on participation, enjoyment, and family engagement, with every recreational competitor receiving a medal in recognition of their efforts.

The celebrations concluded with an awards ceremony honouring athletes and clubs, followed by community festivities that brought together participants, families, and supporters to celebrate the values of sport, friendship, and active living.
