Premiere at the Final: Nordic youth showcased their talent

The Grand Prix Migros Nordic reached an important milestone in its second season: following last year’s test events, the format was firmly integrated into the programme this year with three races, each held in a different interregional area, and was also included in the Grand Prix Migros Final for the first time.

The final in Crans-Montana offered the Nordic athletes a varied programme. On Friday, a free training session took place on the race course at Cry d’Er. The presence of Olympic silver medallist Selina Gasparin, along with James Pacal and Mathis Profit, who provided the children with valuable tips and helped prepare them for the upcoming competition, gave an additional boost of motivation.

Saturday was competition day, featuring the final race. Depending on their age category, the children completed different numbers of laps in cross-country skiing. The race was complemented by two prone shooting stages, incorporating elements of biathlon into the competition. This resulted in two separate rankings: a pure cross-country classification and a biathlon classification, in which both skiing performance and shooting results were taken into account. In each case, the better result was used for the final ranking.

With its successful staging as part of the final weekend, the Nordic discipline has now firmly established itself within the Grand Prix Migros, demonstrating that cross-country skiing and biathlon are also attracting strong interest among young athletes.
