Romania celebrates International Biathlon Day in Harghita Băi

Romania celebrated International Biathlon Day 2026 on 30 May in Harghita Băi through the Biathlon 4 All Romania project, organised by the Romanian Ski and Biathlon Federation together with local partners.

The event brought together elite athletes, coaches, young participants, and members of the local community for a day dedicated to promoting biathlon, inclusion, and healthy lifestyles. Around 450–500 participants attended the celebration.

Throughout the day, visitors had the opportunity to try laser shooting under the guidance of experienced coaches and discover the fundamentals of biathlon through interactive activities. Members of the Romanian national biathlon team presented sprint demonstrations, offering spectators a closer look at the skills and techniques required at the highest level of the sport.

Participants also took part in public competitions combining running and shooting, while one of the highlights of the event was an inclusive biathlon relay featuring mixed teams of children, adults, athletes, and community members. The relay showcased the values of cooperation, participation, and fair play that are central to both biathlon and International Biathlon Day.

Visitors additionally had the opportunity to meet national team athletes, take photographs, and receive autographs, helping strengthen the connection between elite sport and the local community.
