France celebrated International Biathlon Day on 30 May 2026 with the opening stage of the Biathlon Run National Tour in Rumilly, attracting a total of 250 participants.

The local rugby stadium was transformed into a biathlon venue, featuring a competition course and a 22-lane shooting range.

The programme included youth individual races for the U11 and U13 categories, an adult individual competition, a team relay and a pursuit race. Many participants competed in multiple events throughout the day, with children and parents taking part individually before joining together in the relay and pursuit competitions.

The President of the French Ski Federation attended the event to present awards and underline the importance of bringing biathlon closer to local communities. Around 50 volunteers from the region’s largest biathlon Club Montagnard Rumillien, which has almost 600 members, helped organise the successful event.
