Spain introduces new audiences to biathlon on International Biathlon Day

Image

Spain’s International Biathlon Day celebration took place in Vielha, in the Val d’Aran region, approximately 30 kilometres from the Baqueira-Beret ski resort. The event brought together 35 young participants, including 18 boys and 17 girls, along with their parents.

Most participants came from a local cross-country skiing club and were able to experience biathlon in a welcoming and supportive environment. For many, the event provided an opportunity to discover the sport beyond traditional cross-country skiing activities.

The event also highlighted the inclusive nature of biathlon, with participation from a woman with disabilities. By bringing together children, families and members of the local sporting community, the celebration successfully promoted the values of accessibility, participation and enjoyment that are central to International Biathlon Day and the Biathlon 4 All initiative.
