Despite the challenging weather conditions and temperatures in the days leading up to the event, the organising committee worked hard to provide participants with an unforgettable experience. On race day itself, the conditions were perfect: Bright sunshine and perfectly groomed cross-country trails ensured enthusiasm among all participants.

Around 100 participants in the Grand Prix Migros/Nordic, together with more than 600 athletes taking part in the Grand Prix Migros/Alpin, experienced an unforgettable winter sports festival in Adelboden. The Nordic premiere offered a variety of Challenges on the cross-country trail, peppered with obstacles, and a state-of-the-art shooting range with the latest laser technology. Two rankings were taken into account: the pure running time and a combined overall ranking, which combined the running time with the results at the shooting range.

Adrian Albrecht, Head of Popular Sports at Swiss-Ski, was also delighted with the successful premiere: ‘The premiere of the Grand Prix Migros/Nordic in Adelboden was a complete success and a great step towards integrating Nordic disciplines into the existing series. It was a special highlight to see the enthusiasm of the young athletes and to experience how the youngsters compete with so much energy and passion. Events like this are crucial for the promotion of grassroots sport in Switzerland and provide a valuable platform for the development of our future top athletes.’

The mini-race was a particular highlight for the youngest participants: here, the children taking part were able to gain their first racing experience over a shorter distance and experience a playful introduction to the Nordic disciplines (cross-country skiing in biathlon).

In addition to the sporting competitions, there was also plenty of fun to be had: the sponsors' village offered a varied program of games and entertainment that delighted both the children and their accompanying adults.

The successful start whets the appetite for more: the second pilot of the Grand Prix Migros/Nordic will take place on 9 March 2025 in Lenzerheide.
