The French Ski Federation announces the launch of the Biathlon Run National Tour
On 22 April 2026, the French Ski Federation (FFS) made official the creation of the Biathlon Run National Tour. Set up to develop the sport of biathlon running, this circuit of national events will include five stages in its first year.
From May 30, International Biathlon Day, the first event will take place in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie). On June 27, another leg will take place in Orléans (Loiret), while Le Bessat (Loire), Dijon (Côte-d’Or) and Grenoble (Isère) will host the other legs of the circuit on September 19, September 26 and October 10.
“The idea is to give our members and non-members the chance to try biathlon running by issuing them with a biathlon running pass, a kind of race ticket specific to the discipline”, explains Samuel Lopes, head of development at the FFS, to Nordic Magazine.
Individual races in the morning and relays in the afternoon
The days will be divided into two parts, with individual races (U11, U13 and U15 and over) contested in the morning over formats ranging from 1.5km to 5km, followed by relays in the afternoon. Shooting will be by laser or optic at 10 metres.
The main idea is to democratise biathlon and, thanks to biathlon running, make it accessible to people who can’t do it themselves,” continues Samuel Lopes. In the long term, the aim is to build up to eight or ten stages to establish overall rankings.
