Young fans discover biathlon at Otepää World Cup Youth Area
During the BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup in Otepää, held from 12 to 15 March 2026, young visitors and families were invited to step into the world of biathlon through an interactive “Biathlon for All” youth activation.
Set up in the dedicated Youth Area, the initiative offered participants the chance to try laser rifle shooting and learn the basics of the sport in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. Over the four days, approximately 200 people took part, including children aged 3 to 13 as well as adults curious to experience biathlon firsthand.
Among the younger participants, 94 were under the age of 15 (52 boys and 42 girls). Additional engagement included 34 youths and a number of junior participants, bringing the total number of youths and juniors involved to 128.
Supported by six volunteers and one coach, the activity successfully introduced newcomers to biathlon, complementing the excitement of the World Cup competitions taking place nearby. The hands-on format proved especially effective in attracting a broad audience, from very young children to adults.
