A lively and engaging biathlon workshop brought enthusiasm and new opportunities to children in the Carpathian region, as 30 young participants gathered on 13 March 2026 in Bukovel to experience the sport for the first time.

The event welcomed children aged between 8 and 12 from general education schools across the region. Many of them expressed excitement at trying a completely new activity, with organisers noting a particularly high level of energy and curiosity throughout the session.

Leading the workshop was coach Tetiana Rud, who relocated from an affected area in Sumy. Now actively involved in the local community, she plays a key role in developing biathlon among children in the Carpathian region.

Supporting her was Igor Mohylnyak, a former biathlon enthusiast who has since built a career as a winter event manager. His experience helped ensure the smooth organisation of the workshop and contributed to creating a positive and memorable experience for the participants.

The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to introduce biathlon to younger audiences and expand access to sport in different regions of Ukraine, particularly in mountain communities where winter sports hold strong potential for growth.
